Rainy Weekend

Michael and I are in the middle of a wonderful rainy weekend. On Friday he and I both got AMAZING toys!

He received his Cannon 1D M4 and I was able to pick up my Morse 4300 from the shop. So he photographed my machine with his new camera as soon as I brought it home!

It sews like a dream!

Mark Bowen over at Rainbow Service Center is a genius! He replaced all the missing parts and rebuilt the entire machine in only 3 days! Plus he gave me the little felt spool cushions so that the top doesn't get anymore scratched! If you need a sewing machine fixed, go see Mark, he's the guru!

I made a comfy house dress first thing Friday night with a OOP 1976 dress pattern that used to be my mom's. Then I got up yesterday morning and made a shirt that needs a little tweaking around the neckline, and I started a cute pair of overalls for baby Ryan. I also cut out another shirt for myself and I have nightgown cut out waiting it's turn. Plus there are lot of other projects that I have in mind.

While I sewed Michael took some amazing looking HD video with his camera and he figured out the rails and the tripod and the shoulder mount. We've just been hanging around doing our thing while we enjoy the rain.

At one point he ran out to pick up some drinks and came back with a beautiful pink heart rose for me! What a wonderful surprise! I have the sweetest, most loving husband!

We'll see how much more sewing I can get done today...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Our third Valentine's Day was fabulous! We had a wonderful international dinner in our own little private room of the restaurant, then we spent some time in the jacuzzi. Michael got us a new Blu-ray player over the weekend, so we ended the evening (early morning) watching movies in HD. It was incredibly romantic and relaxing. Being Michael's wife is the best part of my life! :)

AND... to top it all off he got me a sewing machine for Valentine's Day! This will be the 2nd vintage machine that he's gotten me and I can't think of a better gift! I'm so lucky!

Well, I made the right decision and I didn't get it.

Instead I ended up with TWO blue machines:

I started out with just the Singer 347 because I loved the cabinet it came with. Then when I was visiting Gail and Jerry today, they told me about an old sewing machine they had sitting in their basement. They said that they would like to see it used and that I could have it! WOW! Now I'm the proud owner of a Morse Fotomatic III. It's a 3/4 bed machine, so I'll have to do a little modification to the cabinet, but it's worth it. Morse were made in the Toyota factory in Japan and are 50lb, all-steel, work-horse sewing machines. I love the Robin's Egg blue Singer 347, so it and the Rocketeer will go into storage and I'll use the Fotomatic in my Valentine's Day cabinet here at the condo, until we move.

Last night my mom and I were lucky enough to be offered a seat filling opportunity at the La Jolla Playhouse for Aurélia’s Oratorio. It was gorgeous. The show was written and directed by Charlie Chaplin's daughter and performed by his granddaughter. I thought it was like Cirque du Soeil meets Film Noir. It was very French and very fun. Everyone should see it!

I came into work today and received my rainbow pack of labeling tape! Our poor, poor supply budget hasn't allowed me to keep my usual rainbow of labeling tape stocked and I only had blue and green left. The rainbow pack of 24 rolls is over $100! But, the Biology supply $$ gods have smiled on me and I was able to get more tape. Colors organized in ROYGBV order make me so happy!

Now I can color coordinate the Enzymes lab and the stupid Cellular Respiration lab. Whew!

There is also a very small chance that this little pink lovely will be mine. It's a stupid thing to do, but the heart wants what the heart wants...

I don't even know what she is, but I already love her!

Seven More Little Friends

My mom gave us this beautiful little fishtank when we moved into the condo. It's the Mini Bow 2.5 in Totally Teal. Now, I've set-up my fair share of aquariums and I know that the rule is one inch of fish for each gallon of water. But, the thing is, sometimes when you know the rules, you know just how to break them.

We went to Pet Smart and started choosing fish. It totally freaked out the fish girl that we wanted to buy 7 whole fish all at once! Even after I told her that they would be going in a "10 gallon" tank. (wink, wink)

But we got our 5 neons and 2 ghost cats home and they are very happy and have plenty of room.

We're totally going back for more neons. They look amazing when they school!

Michael picked out the fake rock cave and plastic plant arrangement with his keen artistic eye. The tank is a gorgeous addition to our swanky little condo. It really ties the room together.
