BigLots Haul

I had a very successful shopping trip to Big Lots the other day! I just stopped in to see if they had some disposable cameras for the reception and I ended up finding lots of wedding photo related items! Just a couple weeks ago I decided that I actually do want to have a guestbook. Looking back at all the thing that people have written in our Halloween scrapbooks is fun, and I want those kind of memories from our wedding day. I just happened to find this one in the photo album aisle at Big Lots. I really like it. It has it's own storage box, so it doesn't get dusty over the years, and I really like the vine embroidery on the cover. The best part is that it was only $5! Then, on the shelf above I noticed a matching photo album for only $6! It comes in a sturdier storage box and it holds tons of photos something like 400! I also bought one more photo album because it goes with the vine theme of the other two and the price was right. :)

Luckily Big Lots still carries plenty of scrapbook stuff. I was at Dollar Tree not too long ago and I over heard a very desperate woman asking where the scrap-booking section was. The sales associate told her that the scrap-booking line has been discontinued and I thought the poor woman was going to melt right there in the store, she was so disappointed! I was kinda sad to hear that too, but I'm more of a recreational scrapbooker. For me, it's not really a necessity. I think it's fun to commemorate special things like weddings, babies, and holidays like Halloween with a scrapbook. But I don't need to make a page about our trip to the string museum.

Anyway, I found all my wedding scrap-booking needs at Big Lots after finding the photo album stuff. I really love the little leather bound book that ties with some grosgrain ribbon. We have a surplus of patterned scrapbook paper from Halloween and some solids too, so I didn't really need much. It needs to get used up for other stuff, because we need to refresh our Halloween scrap-booking supplies (you can use the same eyeball paper for only so many years). So I'll use some of that for my wedding scrapbook, but I bought two "kits". They each have an assortment of stickers and backgrounds. I plan to make a wedding prep scrapbook. I'm enjoying the time leading up to the big day and I want to remember everything that I did with my family and friends. I'm very sad that I didn't get pictures of the girls trying on their bridesmaid dresses, but I think I'll be able to fudge it. From now on, I'll have my camera with me everywhere I go!

(Cup)Cake Topper and Monster Cereals

My mom gave me these super cute salt and pepper shakers for my birthday this year. I love them! They have magnets where their lips should be, so they have to kiss. They're only about 3 inches tall and I thought they would be really cute as the "topper" for our cupcake table. The gorgeous designer topper that we found online just seemed too expensive, and salt and pepper shakers are reusable.

But, my wonderful Michael surprised me one day and ordered the designer topper for us! He went online and found it bought it for us without me ever knowing! I was so happy and surprised when it arrived I cried happy tears. I'm such a lucky girl! I love when he surprises me with thoughtful, sentimental gifts like my Snow White Christmas ornament!

It's really beautiful. It comes in a nice keepsake box with an authenticity card. She has a pretty tulle veil and there's a Shakespeare quote written on the back of her dress.

It says: Now join your hands, and with your hands your hearts.

Oh, and don't worry, Halloween is never far from my mind. For Christmas this year, I got Michael all 3 monster cereals. Each box had a little poster that you could cut out and hang on your door to scare off intruders. I cut them all out and I've been waiting to find just the right frames. (free ones) The frames used to be an antique gold. I spray-painted them black and mounted the posters on some cut-up gold gift bags. I think they look great. Now I just need to figure out where to hang them...

 

Watchmen... Watch it in IMAX!

 

WOW!!!

 

We saw a late showing of The Watchmen in IMAX last night, and I just have to say WOW! It was one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. I know most people don't consider blood and violence beautiful, but it was. Cinematically, the movie was amazing to look at, and the story wasn't like any other super hero movie.

I really wish I would have read the graphic novel. The characters are all so human and believable. They have real flaws and sometimes make bad decisions. The special effects were extraordinary and the violence and fights scenes were very original.

If you haven't seen this movie yet or you're planning to see it again (like me) try to see it in IMAX. It really is quite an experience.

I loved The Dark Knight, but The Watchmen is on a whole different level. Like Michael said as we walked out of the theater, "movies like this aren't made very often."

I have only one complaint about this movie and most other movies involving crime fighting divas. I really wish they would have decided whether Spectre was going to be a crime fighter wearing practical flat boots or a sex kitten with 6 inch stilletto boots. Every crime-fighting super heroine ends up wearing different boots in her fight scenes and it really bothers me. They did it with Michelle Pfieffer as catwoman too. I wish they would have either let Spectre get it on with Night Hawk in her practical crime fighting boots, or try to kick some ass and look good at the same time in her fetish boots.

They better not do it with Super Woman. This may be the only reason that Beyonce would make a good Super Woman. I'm positive that she can do some awesome fight scenes in heels. She's such a diva, she probably sleeps in heels.

THAT'S A LOT OF NUTS!

Actually there's more chocolate than nuts, but that movie just isn't quoted enough.

These are going to be our wedding favors. Michael's going to design a custom label for us to put on them and each wedding guest will get a 4.25 oz (1/4 lb) bar of chocolate!

We found that Hershey bars don't come in the two-part wrappers anymore. Now they're in a one part brown granola bar-type wrapper. But we found that the XL bars at Smart and Final (or Fart and Smile if you're my silly cousin Andy-boy) are still in the good old two part wrapper. So we can slip off the brown outer wrapper, replace it with something weddingy and still have the pretty silver paper as the inner wrapper.

I'm excited, they're going to be great!
